Domain Name Information
ITC
offer domain registration services for most
of the Top Level Domain (tld) name extensions
available, including .com | .net | .org
| .co.uk | .biz | .info | .uk.com
to name just a few! We are registered
resellers of many of these domain
extensions, more details of which are
available on our
associations page. We are also able to
provide hosting services for any domain
name you've had registered elsewhere, for
example .fr | .de | .coop | .br | .us.
Domain names are sold on a "first come,
first served" basis. If a particular domain
name has already been registered by someone
else, unless they are prepared to sell it
on to you (normally at an increased price),
you will not be able to use it.
Domains are normally registered for a period
of one or two years, towards the end of
which the current owner will be able to
renew the domain again. Should they choose
not to renew their registration, the domain
may become available for registration again.
ITC
have developed a number of scripts that
constantly monitor the availability of domains
on behalf of our customers, and if you would
like to be automatically notified if a particular domain
becomes available for registration, please
contact us
with details.
So now that you know whats involved regarding
Domain Names, why not use our Whois
Lookup Tool to locate available
domain name(s) for you to use.
After you've found a domain name you'd
like to register, or if you have any
questions or queries regarding domain
names or anything else, please do not
hesitate to contact
us and we'll do our best to help
you out.

|
Q. |
Is there any limit to the number of domains I can register? |
A. |
No! Any person or company can be the registrant to as many domains as they are prepared to pay for. You should be aware that domains registered are often not automatically transferable, and in order for you to sell a domain to a third party the registrar will have to be involved. Domain holders are also required to comply with a registrar's policies regarding 'domain stalking', copyright & trademark issues, and be prepared to deal with any dispute's that may arise as a result of questionable registrations. |

|
Q. |
Can I register domains for one year at a time? |
A. |
All domains registered by ITC will be registered for an initial period of 2 years, and will then will be subject to renewals in ongoing 2 year periods. |

|
Q. |
How do I transfer a domain to your services? |
A. |
The domain transfer process depends on the tld and registrar of the domain.
Nominet (.co.uk, .org.uk) domains.
Your current ISP needs to change the IPSTAG for your domain to ITCINTERNET. As soon as this has been done, we will be able to control the domain and configure it on our servers.
Network Solutions / Verisign (.com, .net, .org) domains.
The current administrative or technical contact for the domain needs to change the Technical contact (at least, but usually the Administrative contact as well) for your domain to our NIC HANDLE HI348-ORG.
We also have experience dealing with with a lot of other registrars, all of whom use a slightly different system! If you wish to transfer a domain to our services that is currently registered with anyone not mentioned above, please contact us with details and we will check on your domain and contact you with details regarding the transfer process. |

Q. |
What can I do if a domain has already been taken? |
A. |
All domains are sold on a first come, first serve basis. Normally this means that if a domain has already been registered, then you will not be able to use it, and you should search for another suitable domain name.
When searching for domains, it's worth keeping your eye on 2 things. Firstly, is the expiration date of the domain. A lot of domains were purchased by people who hoped they would be able to sell them on and make a profit, but who have not managed to do so. In this event, after 2 years they might decide that it is no longer worth their money continuing the registration, and the domain name will expire and become available to anyone who wishes to register it (like you!). The second possibility is related to the first, being that the current owner doesn't actually use the domain and would be prepared to sell it. Normally this will be apparent on the website in question, but if a domain is registered but nothing appears in your browser when you try to access it, an email to the owner/administrative contact might yield results. |

|
Q. |
What information do I need to provide to register a domain? |
A. |
Normal contact details including Name, Company (where applicable), Full Address, Phone, Fax, and Email. It is extremely important that these details are correct, and that if the domain is to be registered on behalf of a third party that you include the third party's details as well. |
|
|
|
Q. |
What information will be publicly visible regarding the domain owner? |
A. |
Nominet (*.uk) and the ICANN registrars (.com, .net, .org, .info) whois server's return full contact details including Name and Address information. Other registrars return varying levels of information.
You should be aware that it is an offence to provide false information regarding the registrant of a domain, and the domain may be forfeited in this event. |

|
|
Q. |
Do I have to have a hosting plan with a domain? |
A. |
